Calculator

How much time is on the table?

List three to five weekly time-wasters (emails, quotes, minutes, chasing, content) and an approximate hourly value in your own currency. The totals update as you type. Nothing leaves your browser.

Arithmetic only. AI rarely removes 100% of a task — treat the monthly figure as time at stake, not a guaranteed saving.

Free to embed

Put this calculator on your own site.

Writing about admin time, small-business productivity or AI? You can embed this calculator in your article or resource page for free. It runs in your reader's browser and stores nothing they type. The embed has no cookies, ads or third-party trackers; it only counts page views (path and referring site) in our own cookieless counter.

The credit line is optional. Keep it, remove it or add rel="nofollow" to match your site's link policy. Free to use on any site; the calculator is offered as-is, with no affiliation or endorsement implied.

How it works

What this calculator does

You enter the weekly hours you spend on repetitive writing and admin, plus a rough hourly value for your time (your charge-out rate, or what you'd pay someone else to do it). It multiplies by weeks per month (default 4.33) and shows hours and A$ at stake.

It does not promise that AI will give those hours back. Consumer AI is good at first drafts, summaries and tidy-ups. It is bad at replacing judgement, client relationships and anything that needs your name on it. Read the total as the size of the problem, then decide which jobs are worth a careful AI setup.

Good candidates

Jobs that often shrink with a good draft

  • Routine email replies that follow a pattern (confirmations, chasing missing info, polite noes).
  • Quotes, proposals and scope notes started from bullet points you already know.
  • Meeting minutes and action lists from rough notes or a transcript you own.
  • Newsletters, social captions and website FAQ copy once the facts are fixed.
  • Internal handover notes and checklists that you rewrite from scratch every time.

Not magic

What AI usually does not remove

Client calls, site visits, clinical or regulated decisions, and anything where a wrong fact costs money or trust. Also: pasting private member, patient, tenant or customer identifiers into a consumer chatbot. Keep those out; use placeholders and fill real details yourself.

Questions

Common questions

Does this calculator send my numbers anywhere?

No. The sums run in your browser. The calculator makes no network calls of its own.

Will AI give me 100% of these hours back?

Usually not. Treat the total as time at stake. Drafting and tidy-up often reclaim a slice; decisions, relationships and quality checks stay with you.

What hourly value should I use?

Your charge-out rate if you bill time, or a realistic rate for someone you'd hire to do the admin. It is only for the A$ estimate — the hours figure stands alone.

Why 4.33 weeks per month?

52 weeks ÷ 12 ≈ 4.33. Change it if you prefer a simpler 4-week month.

What should I do with the result?

Pick one or two high-hour jobs and set up a repeatable draft workflow. Or get a costed plan via the AI Audit (fixed price, no meetings).
